What has changed?

From December 21, 2020, the standard IEC/EN 60950-1 for equipment in the field of information and communication technology and the standard IEC/EN 60065 for equipment in the audio/video field will be replaced with new standard EC/EN62368-1.

This means that all equipment that will continue to meet the safety requirements of the relevant directives must continue to be tested in accordance with the new specifications.

All safety-related certificates previously created according to IEC/EN 60950-1 or IEC/EN 60065 are invalid.

Products affected by the standard change are in the living space, both in private and industrial fields.

The entire product does not have to comply with the IEC/EN 62368-1 standard. Usually only control devices or single modules comply with the directive.

In the future, the new directive "Hazard-Based Standards" (HBST) will also need to meet the Low Voltage Directive, the Radio Directive and the required safety standards for the corresponding equipment type IEC/EN 62368-1 standard.
